LeBron James and James Harden Heading to Cleveland?
Merlin sees front offices already mapping July’s free-agent chessboard. LeBron can pick contenders and, as Dave McMenamin reported, "...multiple team and league sources told ESPN the Cavaliers would gladly welcome [LeBron] James back this summer if he wanted to return." Harden looks headed to a one-plus-one in Cleveland near $40 million per year. Austin Reaves should test the market and command roughly four years and $179 million. Jalen Duren may draw about $40 million annually with Detroit likely to match. Norman Powell and Andrew Wiggins look priced nearer the mid-level. Merlin senses the tradeoff between headline talent and roster balance. Cleveland stacking vets could boost offense but strain perimeter defense and Mobley’s fit. Expect tight negotiating, creative contract structures, and a July driven by cap math as much as desire.
